Backlit tree in the snow

Backlit tree

This photo was taken in the park near my home. The day before we had a lot of snow. For Holland at least. The next day I went to out to the park to make photo’s of the snow. The photo here is my favorite one. The sun was low and casting nice long shadows. When I walk around I not only look in front of me. But also up, down and back. And very often you find interesting scenes. The same with this one photo. The scene in front of me was boring. So I looked back and saw this scene. I moved around to find the best position where I could hide the sun as much as possible behind the tree.

In post processing I did not do very much. Just lowered the highlights a bit, increased the shadows, contrast and clarity. After that applied sharpening and a little vignette.

Live composite experiment

Amaretto
I own the E-M10 for a few months now. But never played with some of the extra and unique features of the camera. Today I decided to have a go with the live composite feature. My original idea was to go to the city center where are many fairground attractions this week.

But the weather was not so good. Lots of rain. I figured I could also use live composite for some kind of product shot and paint light onto the object with a small flashlight.

I had some fun doing it and this is the one I like the best. Will be experimenting more with this. Who needs studio lights or flashes when you have an E-M10 and a cheap flashlight. 🙂

Tenerife at night

Tenerife at night

Taken last August at the night of the super moon. Took the photo from the balcony of the hotel room. I did not have a tripod with me. So I placed the camera on the small balcony wall and used to used the self timer.

This one was also taken during the Market Garden weekend. I decided to convert this one to B&w. The color version has a lot of the same colors and makes the image boring in my opinion.

Processed the image in DXO Optics and Silver Effex Pro 2.

Out of character

During the Market Garden events 2 weeks ago, there was a small military camp in Word War II style in my city. There I saw this guy taking photo’s of the events. He was all dressed up with the right clothes to be a US Army Photographer. It was almost perfect.
